Alright people. After months of driving round with my front left wheel having a speak come from it every so often i decided to investigate the problem. Nut one was a bit tight on the wheel but came off as did nut 2 and 3. BUT nut 4 would not come off so i decided not to investigate any further. So putting the nuts back on would be a piece of cake. But the last nut i put in snapped off leaving me with half a thread and a nut. broke clean off on the hub.

Now whats this gonna cost me people????anybody know. That will teach me for tighting me nuts.

don't worry, you can tap out the old stud.

strip down the hub assembly (disc included) you will see the hub with the 4 studs

turn the offending stud to the 2-3 '0 clock position. well, where the dirt shield isnt protecting the hub ie. where the caliper sits

use a flat punch. I use a 5mm (i think!) and a good hammer. i use a copper/hyde one as the copper is perfect for hitting it. it is tight but it will tap out

i know on the Lexus GS300, there is a little lip of the shield in this position, if its the same, just cut the lip of the shield off

to put the new stud in, match it to the splines and get an old 24mm nut and a old 21mm nut. put the 24mm over the stud and put the 21mm on top of it. tighten the 21mm, it will pull the new stud in until it sits flush on the other side. then build the hub *****. back up

studs from my place cost around 4 quid

TIP: if one has snapped off, chances are that the other 3 will snap soon. replace them all at one go.

from personal experience, it WILL happen :o

And don't forget to use a torque wrench to tighten up the new ones
