Hi guys and girls. I would just like to pick your brains for a moment. My polish has finally ran out and I'm in need of some more polish. Now with so many on th market i was wondering if you guys have tried a polish which you can really recommend.

What I'm after is one that will come off really easy and you dont have to spend ages trying to get the bloody thing of like my old one.

I hear that auto glym is really good. Also mer polish as well. Also can you recommend a good car washing shampoo as well. Some of them contain polish as well. So that could cut the polishing time by half.

Summer is coming and you know that you have got to have your car looking at its best :D

would recomend auto glym the polish and also the gold bottle with safty cap on, (cant remember for the life of me what its called). basicaly wash car with good quailty shampoo (not fairy liquid! lol) dry with good leather then polish with auto glym and then again with gold bottle but leave on 30-60 minutes, dont leave longer or in sunlight as it becomes almost imposible to remove, its enough time to hover inside... then buff to high shine, altho the car will not look much better than with out gold bottle the proof is when it rains and your car beads like nothing else. if you pull away quickly you just see a water fall come off the rear spoiler and your cars dry before your at work. also when you wash your car next time its much much eaisyer as the dirt doesnt seem to cling as much.

Thanks guys i will have to pop out and get some tomorrow. Question that extra gloss. Is it really as good as you say. So you put that on after you have just polish the car. Sounds like hard work to me :P

yes it is hard work but very much worth it, you will see what i (we) mean when u start to see the results. you only use it once every 3 ish months (depending on road conditions) so a bottle will last for aged (good cause its not cheap), im on my second bottle and all my three cars get done (ocasonaly! lol) all i will say is read the instructions, u need a lint free cloth and aply no pressure when applying, its hard to do properly for the first time as its a clear liquid but u will soon get the hang of it. good luck

All this talk about the outside polish, what about the alloys....

I've allways used WonderWheels and had amazing results. My alloys always seem to be covered in a load of Brake Dust [scratches head and wonders why <_< ) and Wonderwheels allways manages to eat the the crap and leave the alloys nice and shiney with no effort at all.

After that dry them off and polish them :)

Mer seems to be an extremely heavy cutting agent, worse than t-cut, my mum has used Mer about four times and now her car has no lacquer, just very powdery oxidised paint!

Canuba wax is the best you car should have. Zymol has this.

Hey Jimma.. is your mums car red? Red really seems to fade easily.

I like autoglym as a good polish and try mer as a quick and easy option, also I have not tried it yet but I hear that Meguiars have a very good range and at a good price(Meguiars.co.uk) if you cannot find it at a retailer near you.

Hope this is of any help to you.

When it comes around your car. Only the best will do dont you think :D How much ruffly does a bottle of zymol cost?? Rhaines you are right. Wonder wheels is really good. I have being using that for nearly a year now. And it still seems to just cut through all the crap which a wheel can pick up on your travels.

Hi guys. Ahemm I know I shouldnt use fairy liquid :o but i do! I only use a small drop and it does the job fine, I know it aint good for the paint but I only use a small drop and wash it off with plenty of water. I think those car shampoos are a bit of a gimick but im sure they r people out there that well swear by them. After that I dry her with a good quality chamoi. I have been washing and waxing cars now since Oh when I used to get a IR£5 on a Saturday off me dad. Long time ago  But I'm still at it polishing waxing every week, now I have to do my wives car which is a VW Beetle, I hate her!! I have used and tried every single wax thats out there and i can honestly say that I find Raindance the best. When I say i've tried them all i have turtlewax, autoglym them all, and ifind rain dance to give a better finish. I'm looking at purchasing a real good rotary buffer soon especially now I have to do her car as well now!!

Tip. So u wont get circular hair line scratches after buffing, dont use circular motion. Roof, hood, boot use left to right hand motions. Doors, side of car use up and down motions to buff.

Later.

Just thought I'd add my tuppenceworth. I've used Auto Glym for years, on a variety of cars. Not the cheapest on the market, but it works very well. Easy to put on and take off. Suggest you don't apply it whilst in strong sunshine. Only 'problem' is loads of dust in the polishing rag. Gets everywhere. Polish lasts for about 3 months. Don't use washing up liquid to wah the car - it will take the polish straight off. Use any good brand of car shampoo. Compared to what you'll spend on petrol, car polish and shampoo cost almost nothing!
