Airbag recall

Having been advised by Toyota that there was a recall on my car and they would contact me when they had the part I was amazed when they contacted me 18 months later. Anyway all done but I am glad that I was not paying - £200 billed to Toyota by the dealer!

If it is the recall for the Takata inflators in the airbag, this reached 53 million vehicles in 2015 affecting several manufacturers - Toyota, Honda, BMW, Mazda, Fiat, Ford, GM, etc to name but a few. Takata have since declared bankruptcy.

I have just received the recall letter for my 2004 Avensis.

I have owned this car for just under a year so your post (sproutdreamer) saying it was 18 months since the original notification letter was reassuring as the letter was a follow up and I was a little concerned I may have missed the original.

I'll give my local dealer a ring today and see when they can fit it in.
