Hi all,

thanks for reading this.

toyota avensis 2.0vvti auto.

im having problems with a near side inner cv joint.

I’ve been to Toyota for a new inner cv joint and been quoted 295 pounds for parts only.

would a cv joint from a normal avensis auto be the same? As they are available as whole driveshaft with a 2 year warranty for 50 pounds.

thanks for any thoughts, yes I know I could remove the driveshaft and count the teeth but that would mean the car being off the road for longer.

if the length are different would the spider? As I think that is what the bit on the inside seems to be broken as there is lots of play on the inside, be the same on both?

thanks

george

Sorry forgot to add, I looked up on autoevolution website for dimensions data and suggest same front track of 1501mm and vehicle width of 1760mm. Wheelbase is different 2819 vs 2700 for avensis

thanks

Update:

Ordered the normal avensis 2,0 auto drive shaft, different size inner cv joint splines.

Ordered this inner cv joint 0111 - ACV30LH - original had same dimensions. 24 splines 31 mm, 35mm next bit and 50mm the bit afterwards.

The link suggested all avensis verso both petrol and diesel have the same inner cv joint, could this be true?

fitted it and took it for a test drive, has got rid of all cv joint vibration, looked underneath the car and oil escaping because not seated in far enough.

So took it apart again, in the meantime i'd put the old one in the bin as it all seamed ok and the dustmen came, !Removed! typical!!!!

Can't seem to get the new one to fit all the way in, changed the retaining ring to another as this didn't seem springy and was overly big once inserted.

Tried to use a sissor jack to push the inner drive shaft in but all i manage to do was break the retaining ring in two, fished it out of the casing.

I've tried to fit it without the retaining ring and it still wont go in fully.

Car is currently not driveable and unsure where to go next.

Can't find a second hand near side drive shaft for a toyota avensis verso 2.0 auto petrol anywhere.

Any other suggestions?
