what is the box by the muffler?

On a 2004 Matrix XRS there's a rectangular plastic box between the muffler and the gas tank. Anyone know what it is? I need to replace mine...

Hi,

This forum is Toyotas UK version so unlikely you will get any answers to your North American only model.

Never heard of such a plastic part under the car,  ( any photos ? )  but it could be something to do with your Matrix models Emissions control ??

You are probably better posting in one of the US forums .
