2014+ AYGO less tinny than previous version?

My missus drives my AYGO one in a blue moon, usually whilst her Renault Clio is in for service or MOT. The other day she remarked that the AYGO seems quiet tinny, compared to her 15 year old Clio.

I must say that I have to agree with it being a tinny car, but I'm used to it now. I was just wondering if the 2014+ model is any better in this respect. If anyone has owned both and could give some feedback, then that would be great.

I've driven both and the mk2 is definitely less road noise than the first one.

Yes, there is definitely a huge difference! I think this has nothing to do with the engine, which is the same, but rather the much better cabin sound insulation. In the mk2, you still hear the engine, but it is not annoying.

In my opinion, less noise also means less personality. In town, I prefered the mk1 noisy interior, it was fun to hear the engine roaring. But above 50 mph, it was really hard to have a conversation in the mk1. In the mk2, highway trips are way more comfortable.

Another aspect that improved a lot is the suspension.
