Auris Hybrid Cruise Control

Have recently swapped my 2015 Auris Excel Touring hybrid for a 2017 version of the same car. Delighted. Car fitted with LED Headlights which really do light up the road. Question; this car has the lasers that scan the road, caution you for braking etc. A friend of mine has just purchased a Prius hybrid - lovely car. It has adaptive cruise control, which would be a real bonus for me. As it is (I imagine) all software, can it be retro-fitted to an Auris.

any thoughts/ideas anyone?

Its not Software I'm afraid, to give the adaptive cruise functions the Prius has a radar unit fitted behind the front bumper as well as the Lidar, current Auris has never been equipped with the radar. Two reasons for this 1. The Auris is ageing now and is based on an older platform where Radar was never offered and 2. Cost, the radar unit is expensive.

I suspect Toyota will start include the radar with the all new Auris based on the newer TGNA platform which is due late 2018 / early 2019
