Multimode?

I'll be replacing my 2004 Yaris next year as it's only a temporary replacement for my 2001 Yaris CDX which was written off for rust issues. I see alot of cars with low miles but have a Multimode transmission. How exactly does it work? I'd test drive one but would look like an idiot trying to figure out how to work it so I haven't driven one. I know it's a love or hate transmission but I'm curious how do you work it from a starting off, through the gear(s?), stopping, parking, overtaking?

It’s a manual gearbox with an automatic clutch, and you drive it like a full automatic ie press the accelerator to go faster or the brake to go slower. The one in our Auris is the worst auto I’ve ever driven tho, it has no idea which gear to choose in just about any situation, and it’s particularly woeful on hills. Avoid like the plague.

Only a follow up question, no "thanks for the reply”?
