Air con advice

Auto Electricians out there that could offer some advice?

Hi. Bit of a long story ... But my air con in my car won't work. Summers coming and I'd really like it sorted. About a year ago I took it to an auto electrician. He filled the air con gas up, then checked it over. When I returned I was told that it was dangerous and could have caught fire so they disconnected the air con and to fix the problem was $700-$800. 6 months later I returned to get it fixed. Came back later that day and was told they reconnected it and there was nothing wrong with it and it works fine! Confused but happy I had extra cash for school uniforms. Anyway air con never worked since. It turns on then after 5 seconds it turns itself off and the air con light flashes and blows hot air! I'm reluctant to go back again as I don't have the money and I'm a bit over it. Any ideas in what it might be? Simple fix? Thanks appreciate your advice. Sorry about the long winded post n.gif

Sounds like the 'catch fire' story was just a ruse to part you of your cash.

You may have a small leak of the refrigerant in the system. Any decent auto shop should be able to pressure test the a/c unit and advise you from there.

Steer clear of that original auto electrician. He must be walking round with solid gold spurs on his boots by now lol.
