Which Roof Rack?

Each of the roof bars on that page give the years of manufacture for the vehicle they fit as part of the heading when one goes into the description of each. None seem to be for any later than Nov 2013.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

Yes, the facts seem to be that there aren't ANY Toyota roof racks for a Yaris after 2013. Seems quite strange, so I may have to contact a Toyota dealer.

A quick check on the Thule website says they do them for a Yaris 5dr 2012 onwards.  Somehow, I don't believe that Thule will fit on a 2014 because Toyota only go to 2103.

I'm confused due to lack of information.  Toyota dealer is the next step.

Try sending a pm to Parts King. Include your reigtration number and vehicle details, and he will come back to you with a price.

Please pardon my ignorance, but how do I find him on this forum?

Can't seem to find a members list.

Swapped PMs with Parts-King, and yes, they are available for 2014 models.

We were in the Toyota dealers this afternoon picking up new headlight bulbs, and I asked about a Roof Rack for our Yaris and gave her the reg number. The young lady said they don't have them in stock, but if I order before 11am on a weekday, they'll be in by 3pm same day.

She said they come with two keys and a torque wrench, and the total cost is £151.06 including VAT.

We'll think about it, and maybe buy our Yaris (we call her Jennifer) a Christmas present!

  • 1 month later...

I gave them a ring this morning, and drove round this afternoon to pick it up.

The 'bars are very substantial and the kit includes all the padding and a pair of keys, plus a torque wrench to tighten up the securing bolts.

Main issue, is that there's a go/no-go gauge to check that the 'bars will fit and you need a minimum of a 5mm gap between the doors and the roof.  If not, you need to go back to Toyota.  The problem we have, is that the gauge won't go in.  There's maybe only a 3mm gap.

I fitted the gauge - it's made of soft rubber - and closed the door on it.  The gauge stuck fast and I couldn't tug it out.  Same on both the front and rear doors and both the same on the other side too.

Looks like I'll be giving the Toyota dealer a ring tomorrow.

Just come off the phone to Toyota dealer.  He checked, and the rack is the correct one.

Before I phoned, I re-checked the gauge, and at the same time offered up the rear bar to see how it would fit and if the gauge was over-pessimistic.  Trouble is, the bar is a couple of inches too short!!!!!!    The chap at Toyota is getting advice and will get back to me.

Check the Toyota website you'll these are only do for up to 2013 vehicles ......... and I think that's correct despite them saying that it will fit.

The story continues .....................................

Something not right about the compatibility list for that eBay item - shows it fits the Vios/Yaris saloon not the hatchback.

Toyota has their knickers in a twist methinks.

The chap in the parts department confirmed the part number TPZ403-B2614-GA is the correct one for our vehicle ................. it clearly is not.  They ordered it, I paid for it and collected it, and they say it fits ................ it clearly does not.

They haven't got back to me yet.  If no word from them by mid afternoon, I'll phone again.  The car is now booked in for the driver's airbag recall Thursday 18th, and the plan could be for me to take the rack back to them for them to have a look-see.  As I say, they've not got back to me yet.

I think the rack is for the pre-facelift Yaris 5dr.  Maybe the roof is narrower on those cars.

Just come off the phone.

The car is booked in for the airbag issue, and I'm taking the Roof Rack with me.  They will do the airbag and also check out the Roof Rack and see for themselves that it doesn't fit.  They'll be taking photographs and contacting Toyota HQ if it doesn't.

You never know, I could be sorely mistaken and the rack could indeed fit.  If they can actually fit it, I'll eat my hat, but it's them that's going to try and them that'll take the risks ....... not me.  Remember, the go/no-go gauge wouldn't go in, and therefore the rack doesn't even get past the first base.

Just a little update to this.

On a whim, I hit the Contact Us button on the Toyota website  https://www.toyota.co.uk/contact-us and sent them an email asking for the part number for  roof rack for a 2014 Yaris.

They replied with a message to contact my dealer, so I replied explaining that I was already in contact with them and just wanted to check with Toyota HQ that the part number I have is correct and gave them the part number on the box  PZ-403-B2614-GA  and my registration number.

 They said .............

Thank you for your further email.

I have reviewed the part number you have provided with our Parts and Accessories department, they have confirmed this is the correct part for your vehicle.

They have recommended discussing the issues you have experienced with the centre, they should be able to resolve the issue you have experienced fitting the part, or offer advice.

It fits !!!!!!!

It took four technicians at the Toyota dealers to sort out the instructions and fit it.  The instructions are wrong and misleading, and the technical instructions they have are even worse. They'll be getting on to Toyota HQ about it.

Basically, they tell you to check you have 5mm and there's a drawing, but the drawing is wrong in that they show the rubber door seal included with the 5mm, but it's should be not included. Also, there is no instruction to where the feet are placed, in fact, the feet on the drawings are in the wrong place ............. hence my saying that the bars aren't long enough.

They don"t fit like this at all.  They fit much further in.  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Toyota-Yaris-Roof-Rack-Travel-Touring-PZ403B2614GA-07-2011-11-2013-/221858832025?hash=item33a7d11e99

They fitted it and left it on and I drove back home with it on.  Driving, I didn't even notice its presence.  Later today, I'll practice removing and replacing it.

I'm going to go and eat my hat for breakfast.

Mick.
