Yaris Hybrid - battery on the way out?

I bought my shiny red 2014 Yaris Hybrid Icon just the other day.  I mostly love the car - although the seats take some getting used to, and my back is complaining!

I am charging the 12v auxiliary Battery overnight, as it looks like it might be on the way out.   If it is on it's last legs, I'm wondering if the Toyota dealership are likely to give me a new one under guarantee? (or is the Battery considered a 'consumable'?)  I'd like to get a good quality AGM Battery - but most battery suppliers seem to offer ordinary flooded batteries for the Yaris. Any recommendations, please??

I've always serviced and maintained my own vehicles, so am a bit daunted at the cost of regular servicing with the stealership, and have no idea what sort of support I might expect from them...

(My friend Arthur Ritis tells me I might need to do a lot less grovelling around underneath motor cars in future... sigh)   TIA

Hi,

These two postings may be of some use.  I think the Auris Hybrid has the same size Battery as the Yaris Hybrid.

Yes, the Battery should be covered for 5 years.

As per the first post, Toyota won't accept a warranty Battery replacement without failing it on their test box (that Devon Aygo, who works in a Toyota dealership, mentions). If the battery is shown to be good they may charge for their time (min 1/2 hour?).

Many thanks - great info!

I charged my Battery overnight and, this time, I connected my cheap (Chinesium)  Battery tester directly to the battery terminals - SOC 99%, SOH 100%!

I am very tempted to buy a small solar-panel trickle charger. It could sit  on the rear parcel shelf, and be permanently connected (via a suitable fuse!)  to the Battery.  Might well be worth the trouble in order to have peace of mind regarding the condition of a relatively expensive battery?
