Which oil should I be using?

Hi

I've been giving my Rav4.2 (2lt petrol) a much needed service, replacing engine oil, filters and plugs. I now want to replace the gearbox oil, but I'm having a problem getting access to the drain plug. The closeness of the wishbone won't allow me fit a socket, and the fins on the gearbox housing itself seem to restrict using a spanner. It's driving me mad!

Also, I'm slightly confused as to what fluid I should be using on the rear dif. Is it different stuff from the gearbox oil?

Cheers.
