Dash Camera

Hi , Has anyone got the answers as to where i can hard wire a dash camera into ? Ideally it would be into the interior light switch, but i have been told that this could have an effect on the electric diagnostics ??? I hate wires going everywhere, at the moment its into the cigar lighter. Ideas gratefully received..

It won't affect the car in any way.

The only problem you may find is the power to the interior light could be a permanent live, not ignition controlled so that could mean the camera is on all the time flattening the Battery overnight. You would need to check the cables with a test lamp or multi-meter to see which ones are power and earth.

In my car I wired to the back of the cigar lighter which is ignition controlled and and ran the cable behind the dash, behind the door pillar trim and under the roof lining. You can't see any of the wiring apart from the couple of inches that plug into the unit itself.
