Anyone tempted by the Yaris GRMN?

I was going to sell my Aygo in favour of something like an Audi S3 but looking at this performance Yaris I'm very tempted by one.

Time for me to do some looking into details.

Hi Phil, if I hadn't being moving jobs and across country I'd have been able to afford one, and got one in a flash👍 An awesome bit of kit plus it's going to be very rare sight on the road. I'd say do it do it mind I am biased as I have 2 Yaris's already myself mk1 & mk3.

I would have been if it was a hybrid. My guess is that the existing hybrid might better the GRMN in the 0-30 mph stakes. Indeed, the peak torque of the hybrid is greater than that of the GRMN! If they could fix the hybrid so that the electric motor and Battery could continue to help out beyond a few seconds, the 0-60 mph times would be around 6 seconds. BTW, a massive top speed is not something I really want - 100mph max. (like a BMW i3) is fine.

Summary - the GRMN is so 20th century, sorry.

Probably no need to do this, as the 0-62mph acceleration of the GRMN is 6.3 seconds.

I can't afford one but looking at it as a car guy, it looks like a lot of fun to drive and quite quick too. But I'm sure that you could get pretty much the same experience in something a lot cheaper so if you are in the market for a brand new hot hatch, maybe something like the Fiesta ST could seem much better value for money. I don't keep tabs on new car prices so I'm not sure what else you could find for the same money. Hopefully hot hatches won't be hybrids for a few years yet, revvy engines that with good sounds are what the hot hatch market wants! :)

A performance hybrid would be awesome! The current hybrid is an Audi and BMW killer. They may have more power, but they're much heavier, too.

I've been quite surprised at what it'll keep up with (as were the drivers of aforementioned marques! :laugh::laugh: ). I'm talking the likes of M3, etc.. The Yaris punches well above her weight.

If you do get a GRMN, let us know!

Toyota have already said at the Tokyo motor show they will be introducing a higher performance hybrid drivetrain.
