Hi there 

    Once again repair work to do , on my avensis 1.8vvti t25 2003 power steering rack has a lot of play in it , thought it was the usual things but all is fine . Found play in the rod from the rack to track rod end ,here is the question? "Is there a repair kit or do I have to get a new rack , and is it a big job

                     Please help wits end

You may be in luck. The inner track rod is replaceable.

The hard bit is actually fitting it and getting the tracking done.
