I Feel Like A Change Question Too!

Ive recently been driving a honda civic 1.5 lsi vtec , and very soon its going up for sale im currently 24 with 5 years NCB and no speeding fines. My mum has an mr2 GT turbo 1992 it has been modified to 250bhp dump valve , induction kit e.t.c it needs a respray and new wheels. But as she doesnt drive it often she said she would give it to me.

Because i dont reach 25 till september my insurance is still pretty high, so im going to be on my mums insurance for the next two months so i can drive the mr2 the original insurance will keep my 5years no claims bonus and my details intact till sept when i hit 25. For awhile i have been worried about costs yet today after phoning LOTS of insurances companies being quoted 1150 ive got an online quote with tesco £925 this is the cost when i reach 25 years old in sept. The civic will sell for £2000 its a 96 with induction kit and backbox exhaust, this will pay for the insurance when im 25.

My question is can i get cheaper than £925 or is £925 a very good deal for a 25 with 5yrs ncb, oh and im also a moderator of honda forums i dont think they liked that i wasnt going to be driving a honda anymore but i told them ill still be helping with any problems as normal.

can't tell you from personal experience but I'm sure I have heard of people younger than you getting cheaper quotes than that, its not really high but have heard better.

Have you tried elephant.co.uk?

It sounds a lot considering you have max NCb discount.

I pay £1100, and have no NCB. :o

I reach 25 next week :o and have been told that my premium won't go down very much, it will just effect my excess, whether thats true or not i dont know.

Although it is difficult to compare as location and occupation also make a big difference. I would ask them what band your address is in, as this may be the answer to seemingly high quote :D

Does sound high - i am 25 (5+ NCB) and was quoted £570 on a NA MR2 and £640 on a Celica GT4 (sorry) when bored and looking online (elephant). Be sure to try adding your mum as a named driver and watch the quote come down if you do try elephant.

Didnt try a turbo but you never know i might just have to look!!

meh , damn pretty much all insurance companies wont insure me till im 25 on the turbo the cheapest one i got was £1500 for being 24 but atleast its not too bad only three months to wait till im 25 then ill go on the turbo, tesco quoted me £925 fully comp at 25 anyway, so as from sept im driving a 250bhp turbo 0-60 5.7secs turbo

Cool mum B) hehe, I scored an SSII Celica for my olds about a week back, lowered on 15's with a full bodykit, 5-Zigen exhaust, pod filter, manual 3sge......bit more sporty than the were expecting but I know mum would like it ;) and it gives my lil bro's something "cool" to learn to drive in :)

Cheers

Yep it should fit there fine....guys can squeeze 10's & 12's behind them so a bass tube should be fine :)

Be careful about only insuring TPFT - if you badly damage the car or worse still someone without insurance hits you, you'll get nothing (well you might be able to claim something from the Bureau of Motor Insurers, but it won't be much). If the cost difference is a few hundred quid, then go fully comp.....
