Mk 1 Yaris Broken Bonnet Release

Hi

My bonnet release has broken. Having a look at the cable inside the car, when it pull it, it just keeps coming so I assume it must have broken at the other end (at the actual release mech).

Is this something I could deal with (getting the bonnet open), or do I need to take it to a garage? How can I get the bonnet open now to take a look?

I've not had it happen to me but it sounds like a bit of a ball ache to do it; Apparently you can't go via the front because the radiator is in the way; You have to take the undertray off and get at it from underneath - Relevant threads:
