Recall

Presumably you have had a recall letter, which should have the recall reference. What is the reference?

Does your profile need updating to include the Yaris.

Could be re the rear seat belts, but unless they said what the recall was, it is difficult to determine. Could use the recall checker to see whether that sheds any light on the subject - https://www.toyota.co.uk/owners/vehicle-information/recall-checker.json

Seems like our 2014 Yaris requires a recall.  Thanks for the link to Toyota!

I wonder why they haven't contacted us?  Perhaps they wait for the next service etc, but we could easily have gone to our local independent garage for that.  We don't have to go to Toyota even though the car is still under the five year warranty.

Thanks,  Mick.

The Toyota recall checker doesn't usually distinguish between an official recall and a voluntary customer service campaign or similar.

Official recalls are organised in conjunction with DVSA, where numbers of owners have reported an issue, the matter has been jointly investigated by DVSA and the manufacturer, and an official recall is announced. These are primarily for safety related issues. Owners get notified by letter using owner information supplied by DVLA.

Toyota also have other systems in place (voluntary customer service campaigns, etc) to address less serious issues, and are picked up via the recall checker or when vehicles are booked for servicing. As these aren't safety related and not organised with DVSA, Toyota won't have access to the DVLA owner information and usually won't be able to notify owners by letter.

Yes, owners can have their cars serviced outside the dealer network, but things like voluntary customer service campaigns, etc won't get picked up by the independent garage.

Thanks.  Yes, it's a voluntary recall.

This is from the Toyota recall website you linked earlier.

Confirmation: We have identified that your Toyota is subject to a voluntary customer service campaign or outstanding safety recall.

Did they replace it?

Some of us have been waiting for a year or more, after receiving the notification letter, to have this potential grenade replaced.

The recall concerned the drivers airbag

My post is on the other thread.

Called in at the local Toyota dealer this afternoon as we were passing, and asked the service department about the recall.

I was told that it's a mandatory recall and to book the car in next week.  The chap said that it's a 30min job and it's to do with the driver's airbag.  I'll give them a ring to book it in at our convenience.

Mick.

Airbag done yesterday afternoon.  Very quick job, and they washed and cleaned the car as well.
