The EGR system is far larger than just the valve, if you follow the pipe from the EGR back to the cylinder head then go to the back of the head there is more pipework and a water to gas EGR cooler ( buried under a lot of "stuff" take about 7 hours to remove and refit ) this can block as well and also cause P0400

P0400 Egr flow fault . Usually triggers after 30 miles from a Battery reset. as the maf sensor is expected to see less air flow when the egr is meant to be open.

I blanked mine off years ago.  runs better throttle response and also engine oil and inlet are a lot lot cleaner..

20 mins to blank it diy.. i done a mates 1cdftv engined rav4 temporarily with a coke can cut to shape. He could notice the instant throttle response and eventually got a thicker bit of 3mm aluminium offcut to make it permanent.

. Mot for engine light is just an advisory or its quick to pull bat neg off then reconnect on morning of mot to get light away for 30 miles or so

No big deal not worth hasstle stripping manifolds on a 10 year old car imo

Thanks for the replies! might be going down the blanking route, or even the terra clean route, I took the new egr back off again and check the ports underneath , one of them was really block up again so I cleared it best I could, all lights went off for a while but they have now come back on, hence I am thinking of going for the terra clean(anyone any experience of it?)

Back to the blanking route also, the EML / TRC /VLC LIGHT ALL COME ON TOGTHER!.... wont they all just stay on if I blank it?

regards

Jonny

Your EML light, traction control light and VSC light coming on....might not be related whatsoever but have you done your fuel filler cap up all the way to the first click?

I had all of the same lights come on, telling me I had a parking brake fault and all sorts, then I saw a guy with a Toyota Tundra on Youtube and thought “surely not!!”....lo and behold, I went out to the car and thought there is no way this can be....yep you guessed it, all lights out on the dash....

Never had something like this be solved by simply tightening the filler cap!
