Halo Everyone...

I have a 54 plate Avensis and the rear light is out... Changed the bulb which was  black but it is dosn't work... I think it could be the wire as the other lights on that side work fine. How can I fix it? MOT duye in a few days. Also my boot won't stay open. Its very heavy when lifting it ! Is there anything I can do to fix it ?

Thank you in advance.

If your boot lid is the normal hatch then it could be one or both gas struts are gone. One or both would need to be replaced. As for the bulb. Does the front side/parking light work. If not it could be a fuse. If it is just the rear light it could be a bad connection. Someone on here will know!

I just got some boot struts from here - https://www.sgs-engineering.com/

Cheaper than Toyota ones but still feel pretty good; Instructions on the same site - Dead easy to fit! Although it's easier if you have someone to hold the boot up while you change them so it doesn't fall on your head!

I've fitted them on my own. Good idea to support to hold up the lid with a broomstick!
