Aux belt change

Hi

The Auxilary belt on the Aygo, i believe does not have an automatic tensioner, on our previous Toyotas that did, we’d simply pull forward on the tensioner nut, take off the belt, put on new belt, and let the tensioner sit back, job done.

Going via my Haynes manual, the Aygo involves taking bolts off the alternator etc etc. I find the read a but complicating going via the Haynes. Im thinking...if i can get the belt off, put the new one on...how would i tension it back up to the correct tension again?

I definitely wouldnt want to get this job wrong.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Hi All

ok, so i serviced my baby today, all went well im glad, the old oil was pretty black, my main concern were the condition of the old spark plugs...which displayed a light tannish brown which is a good sign that all is well with the engine...so concern over there.

Anyway, thought we’de change the aux belt while the weather was dry, i removed the front bumper as a corner needed realigning anyway...but it also made the aux belt change easier...

Its a simple job really...loosen the tension header bolt...two bolts holding the alternator up...and a top bolt to drop the alternator down inorder to slacken the belt and remove it. I got as far as fitting the new belt on BUT as soon as i got to lifting the alternator back up and insert the top bolt...boom...it started raining. So that job gets finished tomorrow i hope.
