Mk2 Yaris Parcel Shelf comes out?

Hi all,
Hey Mk2 Yaris owners - Is it normal that the rear parcel shelf is just resting on pegs?

In my Mk1, there were plastic clips with a slight dog-leg which held it in, but in my Mk2 it seems to just be resting on the rather fragile foam of the parcel shelf - I went over some speed humps with the seats pushed forwards and found it had just bounced off of the pegs and was hanging over by the strings!

I don't know if there are supposed to be clips but they've fallen off, or whether the shelf has been a victim of 'cost-saving measures'.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to make it not do this? I was thinking maybe I could punch some metal wire in and wrap it round to stop it popping off so easily, but the foam looks pretty fragile and is already showing signs of disintegrating where the pegs rest...

I kinda wish they'd made it out of the same hard card-like material they used in the Mk1; That was much more robust!

Mine are the same. I thought previous owner might have done something to the plastic clips as it just doesn't look right to have the PS resting on the pegs like that. How much could it have cost to create a plastic clip that clips on to the pegs? It's annoying when the PS gets stuck under the pegs and the boot door doesn't lift properly, :bangin:

Thanks for sharing that ruf.

The Yaris wasn't exactly cheap when new so it's annoying when they cut corners on such stupid things... I might see if I can jury rig something to make it less poppy-outy... Need to shore up the foam first tho', it's super fragile!
