automatic transmission problems

so i have an toyota avensis t22 sedan 128 hp 3S-FE engine and an automatic transmission the problem is that when i put it in drive it feels like tit is in higher gear and i dont get the power i need but when i put it in low gear it works fine but the car dosent shift correctly and the kickdown switch isn't working either any suggestions ??

Have you checked your ATF levels and  condition.?...if the fluid is dark and/or smells burnt..or the level isn't right, then you will have auto box problems.

It's about the only thing the average owner can do with auto box issues.

yea i did try that but i shulde proberly say that i am an apprentice at a car work shop but i can't find any diagram of how the auto shift works in the car and can't pin point the problem

Any TC auto box should work the same..have you done any OBD diagnostics.?

Given where you work surely you must have "time-served" colleagues who might be able to guide you.?

I would have assumed that an OBD check would have thrown up some issues if it was an electrical/TCM problem...particularly if you are having kick down problems too.

Might be worth checking all your wiring connections to the gear box for worn wires/connections/chafing etc.

When you checked the ATF did you follow the correct procedure to ensure you got the right level results.?..and was the fluid condition ok.?

So many auto-box issues are often down to ATF in poor condition and/or incorrect level.

How many miles has the car done.?
