Preservative

I have a red Yaris Icon and am very keen to preserve the paint work as in time gone by, the red paint on cars faded and after a couple of years they looked awful. As I intend to permanently keep my car, a 2014 model,  as at the age of 86, it's hardly worth buying a new one and then ending up in a box!  I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction as to what wax/sealant would be best for the job.

Cheers,

ronbin

Hi Ron, Have a look at the 'GardX' treatment, many garages offer this option when buying a new/nearly new car. My partner has just bought 65' plate red corsa  (a replacement after having hers written off!!!) and as she does not polish or really clean her cars she has had it done. It protects the paint work and the interior too. A friend of mine had hers done on her new 10' plate fiat 500 and it still looks great, never been polished just taken to a hand wash. Have a look at www.gardx.co.uk   and see what you think. It would save you the trouble & time, of polishing, just washing. Nick

Some sealant systems require a monthly treatment with a conserver to maintain the protective properties of the treatment - so aren't always maintenance free. Gardx is one of these (my Aygo has this), and Diamondbrite Jewelutra is another.

Sometimes the application and aftercare kits are sold on eBay.

Amazon also sell some paint sealants - Permaseal, Autoglym Extra Protection, etc.

I always use Autoglym for deep colours, works well. Some of the paint protection treatments can be quite expensive.
