Cannot find any Winter Tyres for Avensis 143bhp 1.8 petrol 2009

Has anyone tried to buy winter tyres for their 1.8 petrol Avensis T2.

I need to buy winter tyres for a journey from London to Gdansk, Poland. The cars sticker stipulates to fit 205 60 R16 92V, which only exist in summer tyres!! Any ideas people?

Many thanks in advance.

Winter tyres have a lower speed rating than summer tyres - eg H instead of V.

For example Nokian do some winter tyres in 205/60/R16H.

Otherwise you could consider all weather tyres - eg Michelin Cross climates, Pirelli Cinturato All Weather, etc.

As you're going to Poland, don't buy studded tires. They are not allowed there.

I'd recommend Conti TS860's. These are currently on the Superb

The Dunlop Winterports 5 are pretty decent and are on the Leon

The Avensis doesn't get any winter tyre's as it is the third car. We don't get much in the way of snow in Eastern England so I feel that two out three is enough if snow does hit us.

I am pretty keen on tyres and know that it is not just snow where these tyre's are of great benefit (sub 7oC etc), but after running around in snow with them, I would never go back to summer tyres all year round.

I ask thinking of 2 Nokian front tyres as car was skidding badly a few weeks ago.

Industry best practice is to fit new tyres, if bought in a pair, to the rear of the car - regardless of whether it is front or rear wheel drive.

you shouldn't fit only 2 Winter tyres on a car, 4 or nothing.

Thanks Guys, well didn't want to spend mega money so went for H speed rating and bought 4 X Toyo Snowprox S943. Hopefully they do the job. Knowing my luck all the snow and ice will clear off now I've got them.
