Any idea what this is?

Hi everyone,

I've just bought a lovely secondhand Toyota Yaris.  I found this on the dashboard & no-one seems to know what it is.  It flashes red intermittently - I haven't worked out whether there's a pattern or anything that triggers it.  I don't even know if it's a Toyota part or something which was purchased separately.  Can anyone shed some light please?

Thank you

Can you post another photo ? But zoomed out, so the placement is clearer.

Hi Jon, it's not actually fixed to the car, it had a sticky bottom but was loose when I got the car.  The photo was taken with it on my desk

Hi,

It looks like an alarm mimic, you stick it somewhere visible and it flashes away so thieves think your car has an alarm system.

Seem some are just internal Battery powered, others also solar powered / Battery so you need to keep it on top of the dashboard to get the sunlight.

I think you are right, I found this on Amazon.
