Just about to take the stereo out of the Rav, 2003 vx 2.0 vvti, to replace with 2 din sony head unit for bluetooth hands free phone and USB input, is their any way to retain the fuel computer display and outside temp etc, maybe in a separate display ?

Cheers Chris

This goody will enable you to do all you want without replacing the stereo, so you will retain all the displayed features.  It just plugs into the CD changer socket on the stereo.

I have the model without bluetooth and it does exactly what it says on the tin.  The review is wrong - it does change tracks from button input.

Hi Ian thanks for that, not really what i had in mind, really want to upgrade the sound quality of the factory head unit, will be upgrading the Speakers next, i would fit a parrot MKi 9200 before i would use a device like the one you linked to, we happen to have a Sony GT90 B sat here in the box doing nothing, i am going to use, probably not to worried about losing the fuel computer, they are rarely accurate, but the outside temp would be nice, we are often in the middle of nowhere, far from gritters, on Motorsport events, it's handy to know if you are likely to encounter ice, could i use the vehicles sensor to drive another display ?

If you're going to do that, you could get a display with matched sensor for peanuts, e.g. this one.

would prefer to use the factory sensor, as it is already in a good location, and the cable fed through the bulkhead to the dash area, the ideal situation, would be to get a display of some kind, that would take signals from  the various factory sensors, and make it all work, hundreds if not thousands of people must have fitted after market stereos to Ravs, would have thought some bright spark would have come up with a work around for this issue.

Hmm, well, good luck with that.  How will you match the Toyota thermistor characteristic to the display unit?

Probably the whole idea is a dead duck Ian, i really don't fancy mounting a temp sensor somewhere it will work properly, then get a cable through the bulkhead, then up into the dash somewhere to feed an aftermarket display.
