Phone compatibility

I currently have an iPhone 5s, which works with car for phone calls. But will not relay text messages to the car, my previous Yaris did. Now before you tell me off for reading text messages whilst driving, I tell you now I DO NOT. My phone stays in my pocket whilst driving. I just want notification from the car screen that I have a text. So my question is, which phone will do this ? I understand some Samsung phones will, but there are so many.

https://www.toyota-europe.com/service-and-accessories/my-toyota/bluetooth-compatibility However, Toyota's compatibility list almost certainly lags what is available in the market - they (& other manufacturers) just are not set up to test every phone in every configuration & the phone market moves faster than the in-car electronics market.

It now works, and tells me when I receive text messages. Can’t send, but then I don’t want to, not from the car anyway. I think that maybe this change came about, when I updated the satnav (now that is a long drawn out affair), as the audio system was also updated. But I didn’t check the phone settings after the update. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
