Ecv and heater fan

Just an observation that if you have the heater on quite high then you will find that the ecv on hybrid does not activate when you would expect such as at slow speeds / stationery. However turning the temperature down a few degrees allows the ecv to come on and increase mpg in cold weather. Must have something to do with the demand on the Battery at high fan temperature

Probably a really stupid question but what’s the ecv?

Ah rite. That makes sense :)

also I find putting it into eco mode works too, it will then let you also put it in ev.

if you keep the cabin temperature to about 17degrees  then you should be able to drive in EV

once you turn up the temperature the car knows the engine has to be running to meet your desires

once the desired temperature has been met the engine will cut out
