Roof box suggestions

Hi All,

I'd mentioned this in a previous post but thought it warranted its own post, basically finances dictate its camping again this year, but we have a pretty big tent (6 man - but it used to fit easily in my old Zafira) so theres not a chance it will fit in the car - anyway to the point, I'm looking to get a roof box and whatever would be needed to get it on the car.

Mines a 2012 (62 plate) 1.33 VVT-i TR 5dr Multidrive S.

Given I'm pretty skint what would you guys suggest?

One could get third party  roof bars from Amazon/eBay for around £70.

As regards a roof box, it depends what capacity roof box you need. Halfords currently have their own brand 250 litre roof box for £65.

Suppose you need to check what the roof loading is for the Yaris, and compare this with the weight of your tent. Additionally the weight of the roof box also needs to be taken into account.

Excellent, thank you - just need to weight the tent etc and figure out how much space I need.

I've done a bit of digging and it seems the max weight it can take is 75kg, so say the bars weigh in at 7kg and the box at 9kg+ I'm going to give myself 50kg, which seems to be around what roof boxes can take.

Edit: Found the tent info too, which was useful, so weight wise looks good and if I've read it right it should fit too.
