Help needed!!

Really need some help and I apologise as I'm sure this has been asked before. We have a avensis 2.2 d-4d which is being extremely difficult to start when the engine is cold (once it's warm it starts ok). When it's cold it will drop into safe mode unless the revs are kept above 2000. We have cleaned the egr valve, changed glow plugs, new relay fuse after doing this, cleaned the throttle position sensor under the accelerator pedal.

Really need some more help on this as not sure on what else to try? Mot due next month so really need to sort the problem

Hi Emma,

i can't help you I'm afraid, but I wonder if you got to the bottom of your problem?

Sounds like the suction control valve issue I am having but mine has progressed further. Do you have any warning lights on the dash? There are several threads on here regarding this issue. I’m still trying to resolve my issue.

hi guys. Thank you for this. We ended up buying a fault code reader as tried, glowplugs, maf sensor, throttle position sensor and nothing helped. Looks like we have a problem with the injectors according to the fault code so looks like that's the next thing we're going to try.

I  think the injectors can be tested in place without actually taking them out of the engine. ( ie trying to keep ur costs down) A mechanic will know, or even people on here will know,  but the best of luck in solving ur problem.
