Avensis Unused Regularly

Hi All

I recently purchased my own vehicle, being a really cute Toyota Aygo, this was supposed to be my run around towner, HOWEVER, my other half seems to runs around in it more than me when it comes to local runs, now he has a 2010 diesel Avensis, which we normally use for business use, and previously for local run arounds too, however it tends to sit for about fortnight each month, my question to you guys is...could this be an issue in regards to the health of the vehicle, e.g Battery life, sticking brakes, etc ???

Any opinions would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

As regards the Battery, one could consider a solar Battery charger to keep the Battery topped up whilst the car isn't being used - for example https://www.amazon.co.uk/AA-Solar-Powered-Car-Battery-Charger/dp/B00AC1LLQY/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1519338654&sr=1-1&keywords=Solar+car+battery+charger

Depending what your drive is like (ie flat, sloping, etc), one could leave the car in an appropriate gear rather than with the handbrake on.

We garage both of our cars - the Aygo is driven into the garage and left in first gear with the handbrake off, and the i20 is reversed into the garage and left in reverse with the handbrake off. Have done this with all our cars and not had an issue.

is that a fortnight in 1 go or just 14 days distributed evenly throughout the month?

if your Battery & charging system are in good nick i don't see that really being a problem. Twice last year I was abroad for ~17 days at a time & had no issues starting the car on my return.

Certainly, brake discs may rust & stick (especially during wet periods of the year) & I suppose you can never discount an issue with the EPB (albeit the potential of issues with that seem to very much overshadow the apparently few actual problems).

My 2012 saloon is regularly left outside, unused for two and sometimes three weeks at a time and has been all of its life. Stored under a cover and never had any issues whatsoever.

If you leave it parked on a level and safely, leave it in gear with the parking brake off to prevent it rusting onto the hub and sticking.
