Drivers Door Will Not Lock With Remote

Hi, The drivers door lock of my 1.8 GS Avensis refuses to lock or unlock with the remote or the interior auto lock switch. All other doors lock ok just the drivers door that does not. I do not know how long it has been like it. I only found out by accident when I forgot to press the unlock button before opening the drivers door. Of course the door opened and the alarm went off, then I noticed that all other doors were locked.

I did recently have trouble with the locks, I cured it by changing the remote send and receive box. I am sure that when I then reprogrmmed the keys that all the doors locked and unlocked ok.

Anyone got any idea.

Yep not a problem.

this may sound a bit daft but please try it. i now it has worked for others

1. start car

2. open and close all windows, sunroof, etc

3. turn off car

4. lock all doors manually

5. unlock all doors manualy

6. get out of car

7. lock doors using romote key (hold lock button down(approx 4 seconds))

8. unlock doors with remote key.

hopefully problem solved

dont ask me why i dont know it just works

Sounds to me like the drivers door lock unit is faulty I have replaced a few of these in the past a bit of a weak point on the avensis.

If the remote has gone out of program then all the doors + alarm will not work.

The only other things to watch is the central door locking ecu and the intergration relay both under lower steering post cover but these give other faults so I would say your best bet is the lock unit in drivers door.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your help. I tried the open and close windows thing a couple of times but no luck. I guess I will have to change the drivers door lock I have it disconnected but how do you manouvre it out past the window runner?

Thanks for your help. It was the integretion relay. I suddenly remembered that I chaged it with one off a scrap Avensis when I had the original problem, it must have been a duff one. I changed it back and, all is well.

Great group with fast response, thanks again.

Steve
