Starting Problem.

Hope someone can answer my question. When I try to start the engine it turns over ok but just as it tries to fire up it dies. If I just push the accelerator a very small amount it will catch and start. this has just started doing this, this the week. Could it be something to do with the cold weather? Although it feels like the fuel (diesel) isn't quite coming through to ignite. Mr T wants £120 to do a diagnostic check before they can do anything. Any help much appreciated.

Hi Heidfirst, I am the second owner and have owned this Rav since 2010 and as far as I know, it has never had the updated valve or ECU software done. The car has been faultless on starting for the 8 years that I have owned it.

how many miles on the injectors & glow plugs (when it had the replacement engine iirc they reused the existing injectors & glow plugs?)?

I think they are the originals and have now done 117,900 miles. I wasn't told that they had been replaced.
