Hi,

I am a current owner of a 2006 1.8 petrol civic.

It passed its MOT yesterday but a few advisories for next time mean i will potentially be looking at a bill of £500 ish next time to rectify the issues. Its been the best car i've ever owned so am looking at a 9th gen civic plus Avensis's too. The wife has a 2008 yaris which has been nothing short of superb so im a  japanese car enthusiast now :D

I've seen a 1.8 petrol Avensis TR, 2010 plate with 39k on the clock at my local Toyota dealership for £6300. It has Sat Nav, Climate Control, bluetooth and a FTSH plus comes with a 2 year warranty.

Are there any major issues i should look for when i go view the car? How is the MPG on the petrols with it been quite a big car?

The front doors can crack around where the door check strap is.  The electronic parking brake (EPB) has some rare failures and is a costly replacement.  The satnav probably won't be up to date.  The 1.8 valvematic engine  and drivetrain seems fairly bulletproof.  Depending on where/how you drive you'll get between 38 - 50mpg.  My auto gave around 45mpg driving at motorway speeds on a nice easy commute.

It's a nice serene place to be, and an easy car to drive.  It doesn't have too much grunt at low engine revs but is peppy enough in the mid range, and can really take off if you get the revs up a bit further.  The bluetooth might not have voice dialling if that's important to you.

Thanks for your reply.

The bluetooth lack of voice dialling isnt an issue for me, as long as you can speak using the car and its Speakers thats more than i have now.

My driving is 50/50 motorway and A/B roads. In the summer more motorway and longer journeys to the coast with the family etc.
