H11 LED bulbs - anyone tried?

Hi there,

I'm not sure if anything similar was posted on here, if it was, I'm sorry for doubling.

I just wanted to know if any of you tried putting something like  THIS into your T27.
I've seen a lot of videos and reviews that bulbs like this improve headlights performance a lot, and let's be honest Avensis's headlights are really poor even with better aftermarket halogen bulbs.

The only thing is, will they fit under the caps, as they are quite big due to radiators. The other thing is the wattage, standard halogen bulbs are 55W where those leds seems to be 72W. So even if they fit, will it be safe to have in? Wouldn't want to catch fire or anything like this :bangin:

Please, share your views, opinions and experiences if you have any with this kind of thing.

Thank you!

No problem. If I decide to give it a try I'll definitely post here and share the result.

Hopefully someone else can come up with something in the meantime.

Thanks

The majority of LED bulbs aren't road legal for use in the UK.

Aftermarket HID kits will also be part of the MOT from May 2018, so may result in a fail -

Yes, I know that they're not... you know... erm legal. But it's a 2 minutes job to put standard bulbs back in just before the mot.

That wasn't the question tho. My question was about the power consumption and will it be safe for car's wiring?

they are 36w each (72w/pair) as opposed to the standard 55W each (110/pair). I imagine that heat may be the main issue.

Oh yes, you're right. Didn't notice to be honest and I thought they were 72w each. So power consumption won't be a problem. As for the heat, I don't think they will get as hot as standard halogen bulbs

Heat in halogen lamps goes forward while heat in LED goes backwards. If the bulbs don’t get enough cooling in the rear they may stop working or melt something. Just something to think about.
