Totota Warranty repairs not honoured by Toyota dealership !

Hi,

I just bought a new Demo Toyota Hilux Invincible with only 30 miles on the clock a couple of weeks ago. I bought it from Toyota Motorline in Crawley. I have problems with my rear sensors when it rains so I decided to call up my nearest (local) Toyota dearlership in Kingston (Currie Motors) to book in a warranty repair. To my amazement, Currie Motors Toyota refused to book in my warranty repairs - the reason being I did not buy the Toyota from them. Apparently this is their company policy - dont buy from us, we wont repair your Toyota under warranty. They have asked me to take the vehicle to where I purchased it at Toyota Gatwick. I live 3 minuted from Currie motors and they want me to travel 2 hours to Crawley. Besides, it is shocking Toyota Warranty in the UK is not honoured by Toyota dealers. I have raised the matter with Toyota UK CS and waiting for a reply.

Can anybody help or has experienced this bitter taste experience wit Toyota dealers??

Thanks

As you only bought the vehicle two weeks ago, it may be best to contact the dealer you purchased from. The new car warranty provides cover for manufacturing defects. The issue may not necessarily be a warranty issue if the sensors have been damaged in some way whilst the vehicle was used as a demonstrator - in which case Toyota Motorline would be responsible for effecting repairs at their expense.

Aside from that, approaching the dealer principal of Currie Motors by e-mail would be my first approach.

I am sure the warranty repair is not the problem.

The issue here is when you buy a new (or Demo) Toyota from Toyota dealers you would expect to have it looked after at ANY Toyota dealers in the UK. Should I move from London to Edinburgh, does this mean I have to commute across England to go where I purchased the vehicle from ie Motorline Toyota Gatwick !

Toyota UK must ensure all the dealers follow the same line - not one dealership ( ie Currie Motors) saying we will not book any repairs (Warranty or not) as you did not buy the Toyota from us. They added we are independent franchise and we have decided this as company policy !

This is unacceptable to me as a new Toyota owner and to any Toyota owners in the UK.

As I said, the issue may not be a warranty repair - that is your surmission.

As Toyota Owners Club isn't associated with Toyota, it is pointless having a rant here on what Toyota GB must or must not do. That is a matter for Toyota GB.

This is not a rant - nor is it an area being bullied.

I thought it is a sharing platform to bring awareness to other Toyota owners.

I have already taken the matter to Toyota UK.

In which case, Toyota GB will respond to you in due course.

What you don't seem to be able to accept is that the issue with the car, may not necessarily be a warranty issue, especially as the car wasn't bought new, but as an ex-demo.

There is no evidence of bullying in my posts - simply statements of fact.

The repair will be done - that is not the issue I am concerned primarily.

I am just sharing my shocking experience here with other Toyota owners so that they are aware what is going on at Toyota dealer's level. If I had known that before, I may not have bothered to buy an Invincible X but would have gone for a Barbarian.

Come down your high horse so that you reply doesp not sound like a bully. End of reply to you.
