Hi mate - since i mentioned it before that i was gonna tackle the water pump and timing belt on my 96 carina with a 4afe, I recently completed it. Belt was in good shape, pump i am not so sure, but all running good and temp keeping perfectly well on the old girl now.

A job I always wanted to tackle and glad to now have it under my belt.

Apart from a bit of a wheel scrape after a idiot cut a corner she is doing excellent, handles and grips very well and 57 MPG when doing long trips in with regular short ones to work, definitely a long term keeper, wash time for her tomorrow it's been over a week lol, look after her and she will look after you which you do so well with yours 👍

Brings back so many memories of one of the best cars I ever had - a 1997 P reg Carina E 1.8 in silver.

Had some work done to it - exhaust, wheels, much sound system work, various bits inside, a Kenlow HotStart fitted, lowered springs, drilled discs/EBC pads etc.

I did 100,000 miles in it over 3 1/2 years then sold it for a new Avensis (which lasted 8 months before I bought the car I really wanted - a new Subaru Impreza WRX).

Now back in an Avensis (alongside my Lexus GS450h).

All sounds really great Brian, glad you enjoyed yours. I like the look of the Subaru's, and have often thought of owning one, but I'm enjoying the Carina far to much.

The car has had new parts fitted, that will be coming up in a video in the future, I think I've filmed up to episode 54 so far, and these videos will feature some Hard Race parts, along with some Ultra Racing parts to come in the future. A lot of the parts I am ordering aren't "in stock", so I normally have to wait about 4-10 weeks, hence why I filmed lots of episodes in advance.
