Celica RA40 rear axle question

Hi!  I own a Carina TA40 which is basically the same car as an Celica RA40 except for the looks of the car.

The car today has a welded diff which i'm about to change to a AE86 zenki one. I've reached the point where i should start to pull out the axels from the wheel hub, I use a method i've seen work on youtube where you use the drum brake backside to get more force as you pull it out. My problem is it wont budge more then maybe half a centimeter on both sides,  so it seems its loose, but an other way it seems i've missed something, do anyone have any pro tips for me at this point before I snap?
