2006 Verso Ignition Advance Too High

Hi everyone!

My father has a Corolla Verso with a 1ZZFE engine (1.8 L Petrol) and manual transmission. He checked the ignition advance value with his own OBDII device and also with a professional one and thinks that the ignition advance value is too high. It starts at 5 degrees and goes up to 15-18 degrees when idling, max value when revving is around 40 degrees. the car runs OK I think, he says that it's gotten a bit louder during the last year. Does anyone have any idea what the ideal value would be or what value you have when you check it on your car.
