Mr2 Speakers

Can anyone give me any assistance, I have a MR2 Roadster, I am looking to upgrade the Speakers in it, what are my options?, does anyone know what spec the standard ones in it are?

Your help would be much appreciated.

The Mk3 has 6.5" main Speakers and 1" tweeters if I recall correctly...

As with a number of other Toyota marques you will probably find that you would need your own speaker mounts as I think the Speakers will be moulded into the speaker mounts making it a pain as you can't just

unscrew them and replace them.

I believe the easiest way around this is to force the old Speakers out of the existing mounting and make a new mount to fit in the remaining space....

if you drill the rivets that hold the stock speaker mounts to the fixing holes in the doors - you can re-revit these if you ever want to put the stock stuff back in - chances are you would always be better building MDF mounts for aftermarket Speakers anyway - the MR2 will never be a good car for Hi Fi as it is mid engine - the only thing you can really do is change the stock stuff for something like JL Audio or MB Quart's.
