I dropped my Corolla in for its air bag recall last week and, typically, they ran through a video 'health check'.  Considering the money I paid for the car, this isn't actually as bad as I though but will require some bits for the MOT.

They have flagged a missing front arch liner (nearside) as a 'red' fault requiring 'immediate attention'.  With the MOT rulings apparently changing, I was wondering if this may also be pulled up on that and cause it to fail, so I'm looking to replace it.

Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the panel arrangement behind the front bumper, as i'm convinced its not just the arch liner.  The nearside corner of the front bumper is really quite flexible and feels like it's missing some kind of brace bar or something, so before I order a liner and try to fit it I want to make sure of anything else that should be there and isn't!

Also, are the liners generally brittle, or is a scrap man likely to be able to remove one without damage?

Hi,

Cannot find any decent pictures of the wheel arch liner and undertrays, but they are simple enough.

The wheel arch liner is reasonably sturdy and secured by screws/clips, easy enough to remove apart from the one that meets the top edge of the bumper and the bottom screw by the door pillar.

That top edge is the point where you will feel a lot of play in the bumper if the securing screw is loose at that point, easy enough to see when you get the wheel out of the way.

The bottom edge of the wing by the door pillar also feels quiet flimsy.

The engine under tray is just two parts and easy enough to fit.

No idea if its a mot failure or not ... though clearly it will stop a lot of water and corrosion on the bodywork /door pillars etc.

Thanks Oldcodger.  I'll try a few scrap yards to see if they're available, although the local main dealer is only quoting about £70 for a new one so it might mean taking them up on that.
