When do Lubrication to doors hinges carried out?

Just had the Auris serviced by dealer at 40k miles and I had to apply grease by myself. (When closing and opening the driver door, it makes a grinding/squeaky noise). When have garages stop greasing the hinges? Aren't these part of service?

Many years ago when I owned other  cars and serviced by Half*** they apply grease to all hinges. So I expect dealer to do the same.

Toyota main dealers don't appear to lubricate door and bonnet hinges, bonnet, door and boot latches etc. and it's not listed in their service schedules. Not since 2010 to my knowledge, Maybe never!

A lot of independents do though.

I use an aerosol spray grease about every six months.

Our secondhand Auris (3yrs old at the time with FTSH) came with bone-dry door check straps and hinges.  But at the next service (main dealer) the bonnet catch (not doors) was clearly sprayed with white grease.  Such a huge amount of grease that loads went over the radiator top and the adjacent hose.  And they over-filled the engine oil by 550ml. Perhaps a case of 'going the extra mile' in their book, and certainly not mentioned in the Toyota service schedule  At the previous service (same dealer, different location) they over-filled the engine by 650ml.  Maybe this deserves an entry into the Guinness book?

I should add that this dealer chain has nothing whatsoever to do with any affiliated to this forum.

On a different car, after a main dealer service, I noticed that the poorly aimed spray-grease put on the door check-straps had started to melt the door seal rubbers behind. So maybe the OP is better off doing it himself.

Just my two penn 'orth !

Ever since it's been available we used to use "dry chain lube" aerosol - meant for motorbike chains, of course, which have 'O' ring seals !  Leaves a residual lube - probably PTFE (?), it's clean, invisible and never noticed any ill effects to paint/rubbers/plastics etc.. .. ( Wurth do it - " High Performance Dry Chain Lube " - admitted it's quite pricey, but there may be other options - I think , but for the use we're talking about here a tin will last yonks ). If the hinge develops a squeak a good temporary expedient is a squirt of GT85, Wynn's "Multi Lube" or similar. Another option, again not cheap, but offers anti-corrosion properties, which is what it's primarily meant for is "ACF50". My only regret is none of them work on my creaky arthritic joints !

Trouble with any sort of grease, spray or otherwise, is that it rarely penetrates all that well and over time attracts all manner of yuk. Wifey will love you when she gets that all over her new white dress !!

Halfrauds etc. probably apply it to make it look like they've actually done something - like opening the doors. If you really must use it you're sopposed to wipe away any excess !

Hope you're squeak free by now  -
