I would like to have a front flood light mounted on with independent switch from dipped  and high beam.

Have you thought/tried those bright led lights that are used as replacement for halogen/xenon lights?

Read somewhere that some are so bright they are not road legal, so you can use them on long beams.

The majority of aftermarket LED headlight bulbs aren't road legal in the UK.

& under the incoming revised MOT using HID or LED bulbs in a housing designed for halogen is a "major" i.e. a fail.

Considering he wants to use the floodlight, i doubt it's in a residential area.Replacing the long beam bulb with brighter led is proposed as alternate and easier solution.

Yes, i'm aware they are not road legal as mentioned in my 1st post,  but if there's no one on the road, who will it hurt? When you have oncoming traffic, you switch to short lights anyway.

Besides, it's not set in stone, you can always switch them back.
