Hi, I'm new to the club and am after some advice please.

I need a decent estate to cart me and 3 kids up and down the motorway every weekend.

I've only got 3k to spend post  divorce, and there's a t180 tourer on my local lot with FTSH and 104k on the clock. It'll need to last me a few years. Does this seem like a decent thing to be looking at?

Any advice would be really helpful. Thank you.

Hi I have a t180 estate it’s a really nice car proper mile muncher and extremely comfortable.

Main thing to watch out for is the head gasket as they are prone to failing. Mine had a new short block at 55k which should hopefully elevate mine failing again if that’s why they replaced it.

Mine has also had a turbo replaced and the dpf replaced recently the dpf can become a problem if you do short mileage as the become blocked so you would need to be aware of that also.

Hope this doesn’t put you off I’m sure others will comment and tell you what else to look for

Thanks Ross, that's exactly the sort of advice I'm looking for. Always had Ford's and looking for something a little different, and quite reliable. As I say it will mainly be a hundred miles in either direction Fridays and Sunday nights.

Cheers.

No probs

I’ve had a old corolla gti since 2009 and love that gotta be the most reliable car I’ve owned to date and bought golf gt tdi 130 after a failed attempt at owning a mg zr 160 as a daily [emoji23]

Kept the golf for five years putting over 80k on it in that time and fancied going back Japanese again so bought the t180 as a replacement. I’m extremely happy with the car minus the turbo and dpf issues cost me about £800 to have them replaced.

Hopefully it should serve me well for the next few years. I always regularly service my cars which I think goes a long way

I'll definitely go and have a good look at it then.

The and says it's been fully Toyota serviced so hopefully any issues have already been ironed out.

They do have a reputation for reliability so hopefully it will ring true for us both.
