Oil choice?

Hi again.

Firstly I must say how helpful this forum has been to help me overcome issues with my 2005 T Spirit 2.2 Diesel Avensis.

I would like please some help with choice of engine oil with the car.

Once a year it goes into my local Toyota Dealership and has an oil and filter change together with its M.O.T.

Its last oil change was in December 2017, however since then I have had an injector leaking combustion gases into the rocker cover under pressure. I'm sure it has contaminated the oil with Diesel. Before I go on Holliday towing a caravan I want to change the oil myself.

Toyota uses Mobil super 3000 5-30 formula "P". This particular oil is for common rail diesels and injectors with low ash ect.

I have looked on "eBay" for this oil and it's usually the formula "FE" oil?.

Any comments please? What oil do you suggest and use?

Hi Peter.

It is imperative you use the correct oil or you may do serious damage to your engine.

Give this man an email, he's a Toyota main parts person and  a very nice man too. He can advise you and probably even sell you the oil and filter as he mail orders many spares and at discounted prices too.

john.devlin@lindop.toyota.co.uk. or phone him if you prefer 01978 720074, obviously his name is John Devlin but also has the nickname Kingo, you'll have to wait until Monday of course.

You are welcome to tell him I gave you his contact details.

Is your 2.2 the D-CAT (T180) version? If so ideally you should get an oil that conforms to C2.

If it isn't then it doesn't have a DPF & so it doesn't need to be C2.

Thank you Mike 169 and Heidfirst for your replys.

I have sent John Devlin an email and mentioned you Mike.

The engine is a D4d 150 bhp with no DPF.

Appreciate both replys and the caution regarding using the correct oil.

Regards
