Hi

Any thoughts on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Corolla Verso 2.2 d4d 2006 and the heater just keeps throwing out hot air irrespective of the settings on the console; during the winter this was not a problem but now spring is upon us the temperature in the cabin is getting a bit too warm.

In fact the faster you go the more heat comes into the cabin; all the controls on the heater display appear to work but do not change the temperature and the aircon doesn't work either.

My mechanic has had look but is stumped even disconnecting the electrics to the console has not worked, heat still comes in through the vents.

Any ideas on what to look for under the hood to resolve the issue would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Not sure about the Verso, but if its similar to the standard Corollas digital controls, not the round control knobs, then the heat is controlled by a small electric motor that operates a flap/baffle under the dashboard.

If you run start the car,  with the blower on a lowish setting. eg 2 -3 bars. then run the temp setting up and down  from min to max etc  and listen carefully, you should/may hear an electric motor sound around 20 -25c and a bit of a whoosh when the flap open and closes.

Depending on what you hear might give a clue as to whats wrong.

Have read that the gear/ connecting parts between the motor and flap can break.

Again on the standard  Corolla you can see these gears from under the drivers footwell, if you have a torch and good back !
