MOT & service issues highlighed - Mk1 Yaris T-sport

Hi all,

I have a few items that were highlighted in my MOT and again yesterday when I got the Yaris serviced at Toyota. Can people advise as to where is best to get these parts from and if they are reasonably straight forward to replace or best left to a knowledgeable mechanic / garage:

1. fuel filler pipes corroded - been advised that they will not pass another MOT so need to sort.

2. minor splitting to droplinks (I have had these replaced twice in the last 3 years with non OEM ones and they are starting to split again). Is this a common problem with the T-sport or Mk1 Yaris in general as I've never had a car to go through them like this? Is it best to get OEM ones or is there a better make to get to sort this issue that aren't made out of chocolate?

3. front back plates corroded - not sure if this is something that I can just clean up?

TIA for any advice.

1. eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-1999-2005-TOYOTA-YARIS-VITZ-T-SPORT-MK1-PETROL-FUEL-TANK-FILLER-NECK-PIPE/252879242589?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

2 - I bought febi ones previously and they seem ok thus far (albeit they are a stupid design IMHO)

3) doesnt matter for discs, drums yes, discs no, I usually just cut them off them they are rotted...

Hope that helps you out

I had the same problem with drop link bushes. I ended up buying genuine Toyota ones on eBay and very carefully assembling them very lightly greasing the bushes with rubber grease. Interesting to see how long they will last (None OEM ones 2-3 years - LOTS of potholes and speedhumps)

That's the problem with my drive to work, lots of potholes which would explain why the drop links aren't lasting.

Thanks MrFuzzy, any ideas of a reasonable cost to fit the fuel filler pipes as this isn't something that I would tackle myself?
