Carina E Power Window Probs

Hi everyone

I am having problems with the Drivers door window on my 97 Carina 1.8 CDX.

The window moves freely up and down with the motor but on pressing the switch the window moves out of the guides causing the glass to jump outwards of the door. I have tried another regulator assembly all be it from a scrap carina but it's just the same. I have checked the guides and from what I can see everything looks fine. The haynes manual doesn't show a diagram of the assembly not does it go into enough detail to help.

any advice would be appreciated
