Corolla verso 2.2 d4d black smoke and loss of power

Hi ya,

Im new to this having never owned a diesel before this car and only having basic car knowledge. I purchased my corilla verso sr 2.2 d4d 3 years ago and its been a great car. However trouble began when it was time for its recent mot a month ago.  The car failed with a corroded leaking diesel tank with advisorys on the rear suspension bushes and anti roll bar droplinks. Anyway sourced the parts and got a local garge to fit them and then put it in for a retest which it passed happy days. However this was shortlived as the next day the engine management light came on, lost power and the tc off and vsc lights came on. Used an obd scanner which gave an egr fault. Took the egr valve off which was coked with carbon and the inlet manifold was coked up too. Gave them both a good clean with carb cleaner, deleted fault code, reset ecu by disconnecting battery and adding comma injector cleaner to a fulll tank. Car ran great again with no black smoke.........for a week! Same symptoms loss of power and black smoke, vsc and tc off lights on dash but no engine management light and no fault codes produced.  Took egr off and again coked up (although not quite as bad as last time) cleaned again with carb cleaner and also cleaned the maf sensor with maf cleaner and this time used a full tank of Shell vpower with forte cleaner added.  Again car ran great, best it ever had (first time id used a premium diesel in it). Fast forward another week to today, and again im noticing some black smoke under acceleration, not as much as last time, car seems ok at the moment and no warning lights on the dash. Im at a loss what to try now to fix this.

 

The car has done 125000 miles, was serviced last month prior to the failed mot. Garage advised it had a sever oul leak at the time aswell which i foudn out was the oil filler cap seal which ive replaced and fixed the problem. Very little short trips done in the car as its used to get from telford to stafford (a roads) for work which takes 50 minutes and i dont drive it like miss daisy. It also does motorway drives to gigs around the country and regular drives to wales.

 

Cab anyone give me any help and advice please?
